City garden waste collection registration opens

The registration for paid garden waste collections in Plymouth next year has opened.
It is the second year that residents have been asked to pay for their garden rubbish to be collected.
Plymouth City Council said those who are registered will have their waste collected, external every two weeks between April and November.
People signing up before midnight on 11 February can do so for £42 for the year, with this rising to £52 after that date.
'Great success'
The council switched to a paid-for service this year after financial pressures on its free service meant it ended early in 2022.
The 2023 charge was £49, or £39 for those using the early discount.
Councillor Tom Briars-Delve, who is in charge of the environment and climate change, said the first paid-for service had been a "great success".
He claimed it had been more efficient and trusted by residents, and hoped that more people would sign up for next year.
People can still take garden waste to household waste recycling centres where it can be disposed of free.
