A primary school could be built in the middle of a new housing development.
The Thomas Telford Free School in Priorslee, Shropshire, would have space for 420 pupils and 26 nursery-aged children.
It is planned to be in the centre of a major housing development off Castle Farm Way, where more than 1,000 new homes will eventually be built.
The school would become part of the Thomas Telford Multi-Academy Trust - which runs four secondary schools and one primary.
Also included in the plans are three sports pitches, a multi-use games area, a rain garden and habitat area.
The school’s roof would incorporate a ‘biodiverse selection’ of plants that will grow both around and in the shaded areas beneath roof-mounted solar panels.

Solar panels on the roof and ground-level canopies would contribute to a net-zero design
Solar canopies will also provide shelter and shade to a teaching area within the school site.
The application claims the building will provide modern facilities and a high-quality learning environment which will be "grounded in nature and net zero carbon in operation”.
A public consultation on the plans closes on December the 7th.
