A man has died after a crash on a busy route in Nottinghamshire.

The 29-year-old died in hospital following the crash on the A60 Mansfield Road, close to the Derbyshire border, on Sunday.

Nottinghamshire Police said two cars collided at the junction with Broad Lane, near Hodthorpe, at about 17:20 BST.

The force said five people were injured in the crash.

An investigation into what happened is continuing, and officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Det Insp Kate Savage said: "This was a tragic incident, and we are working hard to understand exactly what happened.

"We have already spoken to a number of witnesses but would also like to speak with anyone else who has yet to come forward."
