The route 3 service, currently hourly, is set to run every 30 minutes from May

A new half-hourly bus service between Wokingham and Arborfield is due to start this spring.

Wokingham Borough Council said the change for route 3 comes after passengers found the current hourly service too limiting.

The authority said it had also seen that more people were taking the bus following the coronavirus pandemic.

It said the new service would start in May, operating from Monday to Saturday, and would run for two years before being reviewed.

The bus connects to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Wokingham Hospital, two rail stations and Reading town centre.

There are also seven secondary schools and Reading College on the route or "very close to it", the council said.

The change would also improve onward links to Reading and for those living in new homes at Arborfield Green.

The council said it was agreed by its executive on Thursday and would be funded by money that developers are required to pay as part of the planning process.
