Pair charged over 2022 murder

A man and a woman have been charged with murdering a 28-year-old in Tamworth in 2022.
Kenneth Newton, 57, and Melanie James, 63, both of Birmingham, are accused of murder, manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable adult.
Staffordshire Police said Rubin Blount, who was Mr Newton's step brother, was taken to hospital in a critical condition on 27 November 2022, but died three days later.
Mr Newton and Ms James are due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Thursday.
