Police were called to Luccombe after reports of a man with a gun

An 84-year-old man who was reported to have a gun near a village footpath on the Isle of Wight has been arrested.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said officers were called to Luccombe village on Thursday shortly before 12:30 BST.

The force said the man from Shanklin was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He has since been released under investigation.
