Dorset Council is advising residents of upcoming temporary closures this month

A council is warning residents of upcoming temporary closures to household recycling centres.

Weymouth and Dorchester's household recycling centres (HRC) will be closed for essential maintenance work to be carried out at both sites.

Dorchester HRC at Louds Mill, external will be closed from 16-19 September, reopening on 20 September and Weymouth HRC on Preston Beach Road will be closed from 23-26 September, reopening on 27 September.

Dorset Council said: "We thank residents for their understanding and encourage planning ahead for any waste disposal needs during these periods."

The Ironman event in Weymouth on 14 September will also affect access to the centres.

Weymouth HRC will be closed all day due to road closures. Residents are being encouraged to use Portland HRC , externalor wait until the centre reopens on 15 September.

Dorchester HRC will remain open that day but access may be disrupted until early afternoon.

Residents are advised to either delay their visit until later in the day, use an alternative site, or wait until 15 September.
