Fire crews tackle bonfire that spread to field

About 60 firefighters are tackling a bonfire that has spread to a large field and property.

Emergency services were called to an area between Bransgore, Hampshire, and Bockhampton, Dorset, at about 14:30 BST.

They had received about 20 calls about the spreading blaze, which Hampshire and Isle of Wight Rescue Service said was about five acres (two hectares) in size.

The fire service asked people to avoid the area and said nearby properties had been evacuated. No casualties were reported.

Fire crews from New Milton, Fordingbridge and across Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are being supported by specialist vehicles from Lyndhurst and Eastleigh.

The fire has impacted property and nearby hedgerows and fences.

The residents evacuated are being supported by welfare teams.

The fire service added that hose reels, jets and specialist foam were used to extinguish the flames.
