Drivers have been warned to expect delays after a notorious bridge in Leicestershire was struck by a lorry again.

The railway bridge over the A5 Watling Street in Hinckley - which was once dubbed the "most bashed" in Britain - was struck by a lorry on Friday morning.

Leicestershire Police said the road was now open but added there was still "heavy traffic".

The driver was not injured, with no serious damage to the railway bridge, the force added.

The bridge was struck earlier in November and also hit by a lorry last month, and was driven into by high vehicles 88 times between 2017 and September 2022.

A study released last year found the numerous incidents around the bridge had cost thousands of pounds to the local economy.
