Some Jersey landlords who recently paid for a licence under the new rent regulation could be eligible for a refund, the government has said.

The Government of Jersey said the refunds applied if their properties already had a three star or above rating on the former Rent Safe scheme.

It said the fees would only be waived for their first licences and not for future ones.

The new system was set up to improve the standard of rented homes across the island, the government added.

Minister for the Environment, Deputy Steve Luce said the new Rented Dwellings Licensing, external scheme pledged to not leave people who had already achieved a Rent Safe accreditation "out of pocket".
