Girl, 13, charged after fire at Highland barn

A 13-year-old girl has been charged following a wilful fire at a barn in Alness.

Fire crews were called to the blaze in the Caplich Quarry area at about 19:30 on Saturday, and spent almost 24 hours at the scene.

Local residents were advised to close their windows and doors in order to stop smoke from entering their homes.

No injuries were reported.

Police said a report would be submitted to the children's reporter and procurator fiscal.
