Arrest after woman stabbed with piece of glass

A woman is in hospital in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed with a piece of glass, police have said.

Officers were called to the Thai Orchard restaurant on Fisherton Street in Salisbury at about 22:00 GMT on Thursday following reports of an altercation.

A woman in her 50s sustained serious injuries after being stabbed and was taken to Salisbury District Hospital, Wiltshire Police said.

A woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and is in custody.

Detective Inspector Eirin Martin, of Wiltshire Police, said: "This was a serious incident in which a woman was injured inside the restaurant following an argument.

"Officers responded quickly, making an arrest at the scene and securing the area to allow enquiries to take place.

"The cordon remains in place at the restaurant entrance and exit, but Fisherton Street is open as usual."
