A housing association says it plans to make safety improvements to some of its homes this autumn and winter.

The Guernsey Housing Association (GHA) said it would work alongside a local construction company to make improvements at Rue Jammoneau, Rue Sarchet, Warry’s and Courtil Reveaux.

The GHA said: "Renderboard, which is an outer skin on some GHA homes, will be worked on to remain secure from wind and water damage as we enter into the winter months."

Vic Slade, CEO of GHA, said: "We want to make sure that renderboard on affected properties is fixed as securely as it can be before we move into the autumn and winter."

'Prioritised properties'

She said: "We have worked with local surveyors who have prioritised which properties should be worked on, and in what order.

"We’ve let residents of affected homes know what to expect and when, and that they will see Breton Construction working on site."

The GHA said the work would mainly involve putting additional fixings into affected boards.

It added that securing the boards for the winter would enable GHA to plan what was needed, where and when for any permanent related remedial works to start in the new year.
