Praise for PC's rescue of woman who fell in the sea

A police officer has been praised for his swift actions after a woman fell off a sea wall into the water and he managed to rescue her.
The tide was rapidly coming in when PC Danny Nelson threw the woman a life ring and pulled her to safety.
He had been chatting to the public on the Promenade near North Pier during the Ride the Lights event on Tuesday night when the alarm was raised and he ran to help.
The woman was shaken and distressed but received medical attention and has made a full recovery, Lancashire Police said.
'So calm'
PC Nelson's bodycam footage, which was shared to the force's Facebook, showed how the officer, who is in his 20s, ran to get the life ring and threw it down the steep bank to where the woman was waist deep in the water.
He told her to put it round her waist before heaving her up the bank to safety.
"I've got you, you're fine, you're ok," he told her as she sobbed following the rescue.
Social media users praised his "fantastic work".
"Well done PC Nelson for staying so calm you were brilliant," one said.
Another added he was a "true hero".
It "just goes to show that our officers have to be ready to attend to any kind of emergency at all times," a spokesman for the force said.
