Parking charges come into force in country parks
- Published
Parking charges at two Kent country parks come into effect on Monday.
Drivers visiting Capstone and Riverside country parks in Medway will have to pay £2.50 for all day parking, with coaches paying £9.
An annual season ticket will cost £60, with blue badge holders being able to park for free.
Medway Council said the money raised would be used to maintain the parks.
When the council set its latest budget in February it increased parking charges by 60p an hour to raise revenue.
Medway Council’s portfolio holder for climate change and strategic regeneration Simon Curry said: “Medway’s Country Parks are an amazing asset and these new charges will help maintain these fantastic spaces for everyone, whether for our own Medway residents or visitors from further afield.
"Charging for parking is common practice at country parks around Kent and the rest of the country and the new fees will reflect the value we place on our parks here in Medway.”
