A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 42-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Brixton, south London.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 17:00 GMT on Monday following reports of a man with a knife at a residential property at McCormick House, Tulse Hill.
Officers deployed a Taser and the man was arrested on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm and threats to kill, the Met Police said. He remains in custody.
Inside the property a woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Ch Sup Emma Bond said: "This is a deeply shocking crime and our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the woman who sadly died.
"We realise this is particularly disturbing for those living in the local area. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days and are encouraged to reach out to officers if they have any concerns."
