Two Shropshire-wide health organisations will have shared leadership, which they said would improve care for patients and offer greater value for taxpayers.

At a meeting on Tuesday, boards from Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust agreed to establish a group.

It would see them remain as separate organisations, but the shared leadership would oversee strategy and service delivery.

The move follows the appointment of a shared chief executive, Jo Williams, and a chair in common, Andrew Morgan.

The organisations' shared priorities include delivering more care in the community, developing the workforce, supporting health and wellbeing of staff and building an inclusive workforce.

Andrew Morgan said the announcement was "exciting" and the priority was to make services better for patients and offer a better experience for staff.

"Our communities will not be impacted during these changes to our senior leadership structures," he said.

"We will continue to inform and involve our staff, communities and partners at every stage of our progress."

The group will be formed by April 2026.
