A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead in a street in Leicester.

Patrolling officers discovered the man lying on the ground in Modbury Avenue, off Red Hill Way, shortly after 00:10 BST on Monday.

Police carried out CPR before he was pronounced dead by East Midlands Ambulance Service shortly after they arrived.

No arrests have been made, and the police cordon at the scene was lifted at 15:30, with all roads now reopened.

Det Ch Insp Tim Lindley, of Leicestershire Police, asked anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

"In addition, I'd like to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious or unusual, either late last night or in the very early hours of this morning," he added.
