A car has smashed through the front of an Iceland supermarket on a high street in the West Midlands, coming to rest inside the store.

Bearwood Road in Bearwood, Smethwick, was closed following the incident at about 19:55 GMT. Trade had already ended for the day, according to the store's opening hours posted online.

The fire service, which sent two appliances to the scene, said there had been no rescues. West Midlands Police also attended.

National Express West Midlands said five bus services had been diverted and apologised for any inconvenience to passengers.
