A cash machine has been severely damaged in an attempted break-in by robbers, police said.

They targeted an ATM at the Morrisons on Maer Lane, Market Drayton, Shropshire, at about 02:00 BST on Wednesday.

No cash was stolen from the machine but it was left badly damaged in the attempt, the force said.

Enquiries were ongoing to identify the would-be robbers who fled the scene by car, they added, and witnesses were urged to come forward.
