A crash involving a train and a car on a level crossing in Kent led to railway lines being closed in the area.

Shortly after 14:00 BST on Friday, Southeastern told customers about the crash on the Grove Ferry level crossing - which meant trains were unable to run between Ashford and Ramsgate.

There were no injuries reported and no-one was in the car when the collision took place.

The car was removed from the level crossing and the line reopened at about 17:20.

Trains had been diverted and were using a longer route via Dover Priory before the incident was cleared.

Network Rail said its crews would be working during the weekend to fix the crossing and reopen the road.
