Lane closures while work carried out at pub

It stands on the corner of the street and is surrounded by metal fencing. Sale signs are above the main entrance. The pub's name is spelled out on either side of the corner section in huge black round signs vertically alligned and each containing a single letter. Drivers have been warned to expect disruption while work is carried out at a former pub.

Temporary lane closures will be in place around the junction of Borough Road and Linthrope Road in Middlesbrough from Monday.

A survey and structural works will start at The Crown which was closed in 2015 and acquired by Middlesbrough Council in 2023.

The local authority said the work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

The site is being redeveloped by Middlesbrough Development Corporation.

A spokesperson for the council said the lane closures were "unavoidable" to "ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists".

"We would therefore urge drivers to avoid the area where possible while the work is being carried out," they said.
