A man exposed himself to a woman then followed her through woodlands near Walesby in Nottinghamshire, police have said.

Nottinghamshire Police said the woman was walking in the woods off Brake Lane in at about 20:00 BST on Tuesday when the man approached her and performed an indecent act.

Newark and Sherwood police commander Insp Charlotte Ellam said: "This wasn't just a disgusting act, it was an alarming one too that I have no doubt will have caused great distress to the person targeted.

"In addition to deliberately exposing himself, the man also reportedly tried to follow the same woman, leaving her to fear for her safety."

The force said patrols had been stepped up in the area and appealed for information.

The man has been described as white and aged in his thirties with dark hair and black glasses.

He was also reportedly wearing a white t-shirt and navy blue or black jogging bottoms at the time of the incident.
