Road closures for major drainage network upgrades

The government said the project would be delivered in planned phases to minimise disruption

St Peter's Main Road will be closed in stages over six months to allow for major upgrades to the drainage network, the Government of Jersey has said.
Sewer network upgrades in St Peter's Village, which began in July, will take until 2026 with full road closures, external from 13 October due to existing pipes being buried beneath the centreline of roads.
The government said the closure would be done in short sections to "minimise disruption".
It said with the growing demand on infrastructure, including new homes being built and heavier rainfall, the drainage systems needed to "evolve to cope".
The government said the sewer network in St Peter's Village was already "operating at full capacity" and upgrades would "ensure that the system can serve current and future demands".

Each phase has been listed by the government
Changes to the strategic storage tank began in September and are set to take place until early 2027.
The new underground tank will be constructed to "temporarily store" combined sewer flow during heavy rainfall to prevent surface flooding and pollution incidents.
