Patients who need to go to Bromsgrove's minor injuries unit (MIU) on Saturday and Sunday are being asked to attend one of Worcestershire's other MIUs or call 111.

The existing unit, in the Princess of Wales Community Hospital, will operate a reduced service over the weekend as staff move equipment and prepare to open a new MIU unit in the hospital on Monday at 08:00 BST.

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust said patients should look to visit either Evesham, Malvern, Kidderminster or Tenbury units instead.

There will be five treatment rooms, a resuscitation bay, specialist eye facilities and plaster room in the new area.

The trust has invested £1.6m into the new facility, which aims to improve patient experience and streamline care delivery.

It will be on the ground floor of the main hospital building, next to the X-ray department.

"NHS 111 can provide expert guidance on the most appropriate service – whether that's another MIU, a GP, pharmacy, or in some cases, an emergency department," said Dan Marshall, modern matron and MIU lead.

"It's a simple as phoning 111, or using their online service."
