A senior Metropolitan Police officer has appeared in court charged with attempted rape and two counts of sexual assault.

Supt Jamie Gordon, 41, is alleged to have attacked a woman while off duty on 8 and 19 December 2023.

All three offences are said to have taken place against the same woman in Sutton, south London.

Mr Gordon appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday where he denied the charge of sexual assault relating to 19 December. He was not asked to enter pleas for the other two charges.

The superintendent, of Rochester in Kent, was released on conditional bail to appear at the same court on 11 February.

He was suspended from the South East Command Unit in January 2024.
