Airport night bus extended after trial

A night bus serving a city's airport has been extended until March 2026 after a successful trial.
The 787 service runs between Newcastle's city centre, West End and airport every day between 02:50 and 05:20.
It was launched in March to help shift workers and holidaymakers travel, and proved popular with people in west Newcastle, transport group Nexus said.
Newcastle Airport said it was "fantastic news" for both passengers and staff.
The service is a joint project by Nexus and Transport North East, funded by the government's bus service improvement plan and Newcastle International Airport.
Nexus's head of customer service operations John Souter said the route had been extended for another 15 months due to demand.
"It’s proven particularly popular with people living in west Newcastle," he said.
Mr Souter added the service had also become a "really useful link" for supporting Newcastle's night-time economy.
The bus starts at Newgate Street before taking in the West Road, Westerhope, Newbiggin Hall, and the airport.
Newcastle Airport's Alice Andreasen said: "It is fantastic news for both our passengers and staff as the service offers a convenient, affordable and sustainable way to travel to and from the airport during the early hours of the morning."
