Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was seriously injured during an early morning attack in a town centre.

The victim, in her 20s, was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to High Street North in Dunstable just before 02:30 BST on Sunday.

A man, also in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, police said.

Det Con Paige Keeley, from Bedfordshire Police, said a number of people were in the area at the time and officers wanted to "hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything in the moments leading up to it".

She added: "Any information, no matter how small, could help us establish what happened and support our investigation."
