A man walking on a motorway slip road has died after being hit by a car.

Thames Valley Police said the fatal collision happened on the M40 at Denham, Buckinghamshire, on Saturday.

The man was seen walking on the exit slip road at junction 1 of the motorway, where it leads to the A40, at about 22:30 GMT.

Police said no arrests had been made after a grey Audi A4 hit him. The driver was not injured.

Insp Simon Hills said: "This was a tragic incident which has very sadly resulted in the death of a male pedestrian.

"I am appealing to anybody who was driving in the area at the time of the collision to please check their dash-cam footage and contact Thames Valley Police if it has captured anything that can assist this investigation.

"Inquiries are ongoing to identify the victim's next of kin, and that remains one of our top priorities at this time."
