Man injured in 'racially aggravated' assault

Police said a man was assaulted in the early hours of Monday in York

A man was knocked unconscious by a group of young people in York in a racially aggravated assault, police have said.
The group were riding e-bikes on Alcuin Avenue in the Tang Hall area at 01:30 BST on Monday when they surrounded the man, according to North Yorkshire Police.
Officers said he was verbally abused before being assaulted. He suffered several injuries including a broken front tooth, grazed hands and swelling to his face.
A force spokesperson added: "The victim believes he was targeted because of his ethnicity."
Officers have launched an investigation and asked for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact them.
