First triplets born at city's new hospital

The first set of identical triplets has been born at a newly-opened hospital in Birmingham.
Girls Luna, Theia and Nephele arrived on Thursday at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, in Smethwick.
Parents, Tessa and Patrick, said they were overjoyed and praised the hospital for its outstanding care.
Maternity services were transferred on Wednesday, after facilities at City Hospital Birmingham were closed.

Tessa said: “We are overjoyed with the birth of our beautiful baby girls.
"It’s been an amazing morning and we can’t wait to get to know them.
"The care has been outstanding at the hospital and the facilities have made it such a comfortable experience.”
Luna weighed 4lb 1oz, Theia weighed 4lb and Nephele weighed 3lb 3oz - and were each assigned their own healthcare professional to look after them, said the hospital.
Midwife Cynthia Okello, said: “It’s been a truly amazing morning at new hospital’s maternity department.
“This is our first set of triplets and we’re all happy as all three were successful deliveries."
One triplet is being cared for in the neonatal unit just because of her size.
“It’s been a busy but remarkable morning", Ms Okello added.
