Suspected drink-driver arrested with child in car

A man reported as having a can of beer in his hand and a child in his car at a petrol station has been charged by police.

A member of the public called Cambridgeshire Police at about 15:30 BST on Sunday after she spotted the driver swerving on the A47 at Wisbech.

Officers thanked the woman for calling when "something did not seem quite right".

A man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after failing a breath test on the town's High Street and has since been charged. He is expected to appear in court next month.
