A 29-year-old man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered at a property earlier this week.

Avon and Somerset Police officers were called to an address in Kelston View, Bath, just after midday on Tuesday where a man, believed to be 73-year-old Peter Monro, was found dead.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the death was caused by knife wounds.

Christopher Monro, from Oxford, has been arrested and charged with murder and is due before Bristol Magistrates Court on Friday.

"This has been an extraordinarily difficult few days for Mr Monro's loved ones as they try to process what has happened," said Det Insp Neil Meade, from Avon and Somerset Police's Major Crime Investigation Team.

"Our sympathies go out to them and we are keeping them updated with key developments in our investigation."

Det Insp Neil Meade said there was still a police presence in the area and he was "grateful" for the understanding of local residents.

"Neighbourhood officers will continue to conduct patrols around the area and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with them," he added.
