An Oxford college's plan to knock down and replace a 1960s student accommodation block and refurbish neighbouring buildings has been approved.

Magdalen College will replace its Waynflete Building, which was opened in 1963, with a new block which will include 76 student bedrooms, kitchens and three one-bedroom flats.

It will also refurbish neighbouring buildings on The Plain, which is a short walk over Magdalen Bridge from the college.

Oxford City Council's planning committee gave the project permission at a meeting on Tuesday.
