A county's police officers have been reminded of the importance of following safety protocols after bullets were accidentally left on the roof of a vehicle, a force said.
Norfolk Police said it had launched an internal investigation after two magazines of ammunition fell onto the slip road on the A47 near Norwich, causing the Postwick Interchange to be closed for more than two hours on 30 May.
The force said it had been responding to a call for back up from colleagues attending a firearms incident when the ammunition was left on the roof of a police car.
It said: "The incident has been thoroughly investigated internally and senior officers have met with the officer involved."
While the equipment was "safely recovered", the force said it would be reviewing the incident.
It added: "While incidents like this are very rare, they reinforce the need for continued vigilance and all officers have been reminded of the importance of adhering to existing safety protocols.
"No further action will be taken."
