Tribute to 'loving' teen cyclist killed in crash

A teenager who died after the bike he was riding collided with a car was "loving" and "full of life", his family have said.

Ethan Wilkie, aged 16 and from Portsmouth, died in hospital following a crash with a silver Honda Jazz just before 21:45 BST on 13 August, external.

The incident happened at the junction of Portsdown Hill Road, Portchester Lane and Skew Road in Portchester, police said.

An 18-year-old man from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving, and has been released on bail until 12 September.

In a tribute, Mr Wilkie's family described him as a "much loved son and big brother".

“Ethan was a loving, full of life character who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends," they said.

"His infectious personality touched everyone he met. He had his whole life ahead of him and was taken from us far too soon.

“We love you so much Ethan, until we meet again.”

Hampshire Constabulary is appealing for any witnesses and dashcam footage.

Shortly before the collision, a silver Ford Galaxy is believed to have turned right out of Skew Road and on to Portsdown Hill Road.

Detectives are urging the driver to get in touch.
