A fault in the electricity network caused a power cut to hundreds of homes in St Austell, National Grid has said.

The fault on its high voltage network occurred at about 06:14 GMT, causing a power cut to 941 properties in the Cornish town, said the company.

It said power had since been restored to about 926 properties and it estimated it would be restored to all by 13:00.

A spokesperson said: "We'd like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding this morning as our engineers continue to work at pace to fix the fault and get the lights back on."
