A lorry has overturned on a busy road, spilling potatoes on to a roundabout.

Part of the A46 between Winthorpe and South Muskham, in Nottinghamshire, was closed southbound due to the incident on Tuesday.

National Highways said the lorry overturned at about 16:10 BST.

The lorry was righted at about 19:30 but work to recover it and clear the potatoes remained ongoing, the highways authority added.

Damage from a diesel spill would also have to be assessed, it added.

Diversions are in place and drivers have been warned to allow extra time for journeys.
