Arrests after man seriously hurt in bottle attack

Two people have been arrested after a man in his 30s was reportedly pinned against a vehicle and struck with a glass bottle.

The incident happened shortly before 00:15 BST on 18 August near the waterfront on Helena Road in Ipswich, Suffolk.

An altercation was reported to have taken place inside A Listers at Aurora bar, before it moved outside the premises.

The victim sustained serious head and facial injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Another man sustained serious injuries to his hand when he attempted to intervene and stop the incident.

One man, suspected of being involved, is believed to have left the scene on foot in the direction of the university.

Suffolk Police has now arrested two men.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on 21 August on suspicion of assault and has been bailed to return to police on 21 October.

A 25-year-old man was also arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of assault and has been bailed to return to police on 21 October.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses.
