Businesses were evacuated and roads were closed for three hours after a bomb, which turned out to be a replica, was discovered in a town.

Suffolk Police was called to reports of a suspected unexploded ordnance in Crockatt Road, Hadleigh, at about 11:15 GMT.

After consulting with the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD), a 100m cordon was put in place and the A1071 was shut between B1070 and Aldham Mill Hill.

The EOD attended and, after assessing the device, deemed it to be a replica, before the cordon was lifted at 13:20.

'I was relieved'

Glen Rush told the BBC the ordeal "was certainly" worrying at first.

"Luckily, it wasn't last week during half term as I had my children with me at my workplace which would have been a lot more scary," he added.

"Thankfully, the police and staff at Hadleigh Recycling Centre were quick in evacuating and warning people from the area, so high praise to those for working so quickly.

"I was relieved and thankful knowing it was dealt with quickly but safely."
