Councillors have given a colleague's house extension planning permission.
Ejaz Ahmed, a Slough councillor and member of its cabinet, got planning permission for extensions to his Wexham Road home in 2018 and 2019, ahead of his election in 2023.
But what was built did not follow approved plans and included an outhouse not in the original project.
Slough Borough Council issued an enforcement notice, external and Mr Ahmed, cabinet member for community cohesion, leisure and sport, applied for retrospective approval, which he got on Wednesday.
The decision would usually be made by council officers, but because of Mr Ahmed's position, it had to be decided by the authority's planning committee.
He told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) the changes happened during delays to the construction.
“I did my extension before I got into politics here. It took longer than I expected,” he said.
"For various reasons I decided to do it in parts mainly because of finances."
