A hunt has been launched for a 12-year-old boy who was found behind the wheel of a BMW X5 towing a suspected stolen caravan on the M1.

The boy, who was 11 at the time, was arrested on the motorway near Garforth, West Yorkshire, last March after police were told a caravan had been stolen from a holiday site in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

The youngster was later charged with theft, dangerous driving and handling stolen goods and was due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates' Court earlier this month on 14 March.

North Yorkshire Police said he had failed to attend court and a warrant had since been issued for his arrest.
