Biker airlifted to hospital after A713 crash

A biker is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on the A713 Castle Douglas to Ayr road on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the accident - involving a Mercedes Sprinter van and a BMW motorbike - near Dundeugh south of Carsphairn at about 11:05.

The biker - a 57-year-old man - was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

The road was closed for nine hours and police have appealed for witnesses.
