Man in hospital following assault in shop

Police say a man in his 50s had allegedly assaulted staff

A man is in hospital in a critical condition after being restrained following an alleged assault at a convenience store in Torpoint.
Police were called at 16:45 BST on Wednesday to the Co-op Food shop in Fore Street after reports of a disturbance.
The force said a man in his 50s had allegedly assaulted staff and become abusive to customers.
He was then restrained by a male customer but became unresponsive a short time later.
Ambulance crews attended and the man, from Torpoint, was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
A man in his 40s from the Millbrook area has been arrested on suspicion of assault while police enquiries continue.
