Road closures and restrictions for ironman race
- Published
Residents and visitors are being warned of roads closures and disruption ahead of an ironman event in Dorset.
The 70.3 mile (113km) Weymouth-based race sees competitors take part in a swim, bike ride and run.
It features a one-loop, 1.2 mile (1.9km) swim off Weymouth, a 56 mile (90km) bike course and 13.1 mile (21.1km) run starting at Lodmoor Country Park.
More than 2,000 competitors are expected to take part in the event on 15 September.
Dorset Council said more than 70,000 letters have been sent to residents to warn them of the expected disruption and road closures before and during the event.
It takes competitors between four and seven hours to complete the 70.3 mile (113km) triathlon.
Weymouth's Pavilion car park and Lodmoor Country Park car park will be closed during the event.
The Weymouth Recycling Centre on Preston Beach Road will also be closed all day.
Both Weymouth and Dorchester's tips will be affected by road closures.
