First walking festival good for mental health

The first walking festival in North Lincolnshire is “easy, free, and good for your mental and physical health”, according to the council.
It began earlier and continues until 13 October.
Councillor Richard Hannigan said: “Walking really does tick all the boxes … you can do it alone or with friends and you can start right outside your front door.”
North Lincolnshire has six Green Flag parks and green public spaces around Normanby Hall, Waters’ Edge Country Park and Thornton Abbey.
Events as part of the walking festival include;
The Tealby Ramblers are leading a 12 mile leisurely walk through the Lincolnshire Wolds, 10:30 BST, 29 September
Barton Nordic Walk, Waters' Edge Country Park, 10:30, 30 September
Winterton social walk (2.5 miles) All Saints Church, 10:00, 1 October
Wrawby St Helens Well (2.5 miles), 10:30, 1 October
Ashby Ville Lagoon short walk (1.5 miles), 11:00, 1 October
Five miles through the woods & old sand quarries, Messingham, 09:45, 2 October (booking required)
Scunthorpe Central Park Social Walk (1 mile), 11:00, 2 October
Barton Nordic Walk Waters' Edge Country Park, 1030, 3 October
Humber Bridge to Far Ings Reserve (3 miles), 10:30, 3 October
Park Walk from North Lincolnshire Museum (2.7 miles), 13:30, 3 October
