Spring Lakes Watersports and Leisure Centre wants to redevelop the Home Farm complex

  • Published

A water sports venue in Long Eaton has submitted an application for a "state-of-the-art" indoor activity centre on a neighbouring site.

Spring Lakes Watersports and Leisure Centre wants to redevelop the derelict Home Farm complex on Pasture Lane into a new facility with potential for tenpin bowling, soft-play, party rooms and other uses.

Documents submitted to Erewash Borough Council state the development would create an "all‐in‐one activity hub for families to visit year round" and create 20 new jobs - five full-time and 15 part-time roles.

The application also includes plans for a bike hire centre, play park and padel courts to the south of the activity centre.

If approved, the centre will have a cafeteria and outdoor seating

As well as refurbishing the farm building, the application seeks permission to add a single-storey extension.

If approved, the centre will also have a cafeteria and outdoor seating.

According to planning documents, the year-round nature of the centre will bring "much-needed staff retainment benefits" for the applicant, which currently has to "lay off" staff during the winter months.

Additional parking will also be created at the site.
