A primary school and adjoining preschool are closed for a second day following a gas leak.

The leak was discovered by staff at New Milton Infant School on Lymington Road in New Milton before the start of the school day on Thursday.

SGN engineers have shut down the affected gas pipe to the school and Little Learners pre-school. As a result there is no heating or hot water.

The gas firm said repairs were under way to replace the pipe.

The school said remote working had been set up for its pupils aged between four and seven.

In a statement on its website, the school said it expected to open as usual on Monday.
