World Pride 2030 could be held in the capital - as organisers of Pride in London confirmed they will bid to host the 10-day festival.

Head of Pride in London, Christopher Joell-Deshields, said the gala would be more than "just a parade", but would accommodate discussions on topics including LGBTQ+ inclusive education and banning so-called conversion therapy.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan described the city as "a beacon of inclusiveness, acceptance and diversity".

He added that he was "hugely proud" that London would be in the mix to host the event.

World Pride is an event that promotes visibility and awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer issues on an international level.

Washington DC has been confirmed as hosting the 2025 World Pride, and Amsterdam in 2026.

London had been due to host World Pride 2012 but had to run a scaled back event because of a shortfall in funding.
