A change in parking charges across a borough's country parks has been implemented.

North Northamptonshire Council has put in new fees across several parks from Wednesday, implementing a flat fee of £3.50 for up to 12 hours.

Country parks including Barnwell, Fermyn Woods, Irchester and Sywell have all been affected by the change, while East Carlton remains free.

The council said the income would go "back into supporting the parks".

It said the pay and display charges would still apply to Blue Badge holders and overnight parking was not permitted.

Previously charges for all four parks cost £3.20 for up to four hours, £5.20 for eight hours and £7.20 for up to 12 hours.

Annual parking passes, which have risen slightly in cost, are also available. For all four parks it costs £58, with a pass for one park costing £42.

Adding a second vehicle registration number to the pass costs an extra £5.10.
